BARDAN MONASTERY- LADAKH
The Bardan Monastery or Bardan Gompa is an ancient monastery that located in 12 km south of Padum, in Zanskar of Ladak Region. This historical monastery dates back to 17th century. It belongs to the Durgpa-Kargyud, a sect of Tibetan Buddhism and it is also considered to be one of the first monasteries of this monastic order. The Bardan Monastery has a large assembly hall, which has some imposing statues of Buddhist figures along with several small stupas in copper, bronze, clay and wood.
