Unlike indigenous wooden monuments in Srinagar, Pathar Masjid stands unique with its distinctive designs and structural patterns. It is counted as one of the age old Mughal structure known for its nine horizontal arches. This ancient shrine is situated on the opposite bank of the River Jhelum in Nowhatta area, right in the middle of the Srinagar City near Shah-e-Hamadan and Jama Masjid.
