Dogra Art Gallery Jammu

The Dogra Art Gallery is a renowned museum in Jammu city. It is situated in the pink hall of the Mubaraka Mandi complex that lies on the bank of River Tawi. The complex is one of the prominent historical places of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Dogra Art Gallery houses more than 800 rare painting and articles from the dogra dynasty, then erstwhile rulers of the state. The walls of the galleries have been adorned with the beautiful paintings from the schools of Kangra, Basohli and Jammu. Of which, the painting of Krishna-Sudama from 18th century is remarkable one.

Dogra Art

The gallery was initially started as display of Dogra community in 1960 and gradually it grew into a huge museum with outstanding collections of painting, artifacts, costumes, tools and weapons from Dogra dynasty. Apart from the relics of Dogras, it also houses a set of gold painted bow and arrow of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, one of the major attractions of the museum. It also takes the pride to preserve ancient hand written persian manuscripts like Shahnama and Sikendarnama.
