Barely one km from Banganga, is the ancient temple of Charan Paduka which is connected to the legend of Goddess Vaishno Devi. It is said that the Goddess while moving on to the Trikuta Mountain, stopped here for a while to look back and confirm whether Bhairon Nath was still chasing her or not. Due to her standing still for quite some time, her footprints got engraved and hence the name.

The temple stands at a height of 3,380 feet and the darshans do not take more than a few minutes. After paying obeisance at these footprints of Mata’s feet engraved on a rock slab, devotees proceed further. Symbolically, this simply means the devotee has touched Mata’s feet and sought her blessings at the start of the journey.
