About Kishtwar
Kishtwar is popularly known as 'The Land of Saffron and Sapphire' as it is one of the two places in India where saffron is being cultivated. Kishtwar is a town in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir with a numbers of tourist's attractions and natural resources. It lies on the high plateau of Chenab River basin and is flanked by Nagin sheer cliff at 4090 meters above the sea level. Kishtwar serves as the base camp for trekking and mountaineering to various mountain peaks like Sickle Moon, Crooked Finger, Eiger, Brammah-I, etc. The purple hued saffron cultivation fields, sapphire mines, natural wild life resources, hot springs, Hindu and Islam religious sites are the key attractions of Kishtwar's sightseeing. Despite having immense potential for tourism, Kishtwar is one of the least visited places in Kashmir.
