Gulmarg

In spring Gulmarg lives upto its name which means Meadow of flowers, its a large upland meadow 52kms southwest of Srinagar. Come winter,Gulmarg is Indias major ski resort.
 

Things to do and see: In winter there's skiing and sledging(man pulled). Theer are ski runs to suit all levels of experience and the meadow provides plenty of gentle slopes for beginners. Three poma lifts,one chairlift and the Gondola cable car provide access to three major ski runs. The skiing season is from 15 December to 15 April and an equipment hire shop near Gondola bottom station hires out all the gear for Rs 300 a day.
